The Director is Dr Mark Diesendorf, an environmental scientist, who is currently Deputy Director of the Institute of Environmental Studies at the University of New South Wales. Previously, at various times, he was a Principal Research Scientist in CSIRO and Professor of Environmental Science and Founding Director of the Institute for Sustainable Futures at University of Technology, Sydney. His main areas of applied research, consulting and teaching are sustainable energy, urban transport and sustainable development in general. His latest books are Greenhouse Solutions with Sustainable Energy (2007) and Climatew Action: A Campaign Manual for Greenhouse Solutions (2009).

The Developing Countries Coordinator is Dr Wahidul K. Biswas. He has a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Dhaka, a Masters in Environmental Technology from Imperial College, London, and a PhD from University of Technology, Sydney. He has worked in Bangladesh, Britain, Thailand and Australia as a researcher, consultant and university teacher. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at Curtin University. His main areas of expertise are in the roles of renewable energy, water and agriculture in sustainable rural development and Life Cycle Assessment.

Other associates are experts in sustainable energy, environmental education and organisational change from various academic, government and professional backgrounds.
